FIRM'S PROFILE

Arul Chew & Partners has been in existence since 1996 and is a full-service law practice undertaking litigation (both criminal and civil), corporate work as well as arbitration and mediation.  Currently, the bulk of our work  consists of litigation and arbitration (primarily corporate & commercial and business related disputes), corporate work (including due-diligence, deal negotiation, shareholder agreements as well as  corporate advisory work and drafting/structuring general commercial agreements) as well as trusts and property related work.

We have been involved in all levels of dispute resolutions in the State Courts (previously known as the Subordinate Courts), High Court including the Court of Appeal as well as statutory and other tribunals including disciplinary tribunals of professional bodies and clubs/unincorporated associations and appeals/reviews therefrom and arbitration and mediation involving both local and international parties and sometimes working with foreign counsel, particularly in international arbitrations.  Some decisions have been reported in the local and foreign media particularly in international arbitration/mediation.

We work/have worked with foreign lawyers in litigation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR), particularly in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia the United Kingdom and Germany and have instructed and worked with Queen’s Counsel in England, New Zealand and Australia as well as President’s Counsel in Sri Lanka.

In our corporate advisory role, we work/have worked with lawyers, both local and from overseas in cross-border work primarily Malaysia, India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Germany and Switzerland.
